On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

- Dear @"Annie C", How exciting having a frogmouth family so close! And very mysterious that your last orchid turned on green flowers instead of white.
- Our latest flowering orchid. This one surprised Ian and I as we were expecting the flowers to be white. This is the first time flowering.
The flowers have a tinge of lime green in them. As the flowers age, the green becomes darker. Initially we thought the shade cloth was causing the green colour, however outside in the sun the green is vivid. - Hello all
Not On Our Walks but Down Our Driveway

2 Tawny Frogmouth chicks hatched last Thursday. Mum is on the nest and Dad is watching from 10 metres. All that can be seen is two little downy heads and 4 big black eyes beneath mum.
The tree that dad is sitting in is about 10 metres from the front verandah and he is just above head height. - Hello all
@arpie the orchid is a phalenopsis.
@tigerbeth I am in awe. I warn you, orchids are addictive, build the orchid house and you won't be able to stop at 1500 or 2. Our favourite saying "we will just buy one more....."
@jennyss the park looks so calming. I have "green" envy. We are very brown at the moment. Roll on the wet season.
Ah ladies I feel a Big Australian Roadtrip coming on just to visit all the magical places presented On Our Walks.

A couple of photos for you - The Dubbo Orchid Society has a wonderful orchid house in Victoria Park in Dubbo. Victoria Park is a typical grand regional city park. Meaghan and Harry were in the park two weeks ago!! Best wishes to all on our walks this weekend. - Well done @JJ70! You guys are inspiring with your fitness. Lovely bushy shots too. K xox
