On Our Walks
A while back there was a lovely thread of sunrises that the early risers among us posted. I loved it, so I thought I'd broaden it to a thread for all the lovely sights we see as we do our slow staggers through chemo, or those walks we take after active treatment has finished and we're trying to get our strength and fitness back.
In Melbourne today the weather was sunny, still and mild; perfect for a walk. I have followed my GP to a small town in the Yarra Valley (a good GP is worth the 30 minute drive I reckon), and right outside her surgery is the start of a beautifully laid out walking track. It's 7kms long and I've been keen to explore it. So today I walked halfway along it and back. At over 7kms it was the longest walk I've done since the day before chemo!

I loved your story of your dad's orchid collection. Like your dad we started with 1 orchid given to us from a friend who was leaving town after almost a lifetime. Our friend had an extensive orchid collection. We still have Jan's orchid and it flowers prolifically. And that started us about 5 years ago.
The orchid house was an old garden shed frame acquired from a friend. Cost us "Kimberley Currency" (a carton!). The misting reticulation system was made from left over bits and pieces. The benches are made from disposable packing pallets with the steel frames made from pipe found at the rubbish tip on a tip run. Typical Kimberley recycling. - Not much at all. 3 out of my 4 dams are dry. We’ve probably only had about 20mm over the last month.

As@kmakm says they will forever remind me of my dad , years ago he brought 1 then I brought him another & now there is 1500 !!
Kept him busy after mum passed away so they were a blessing in disguise . We now have the daunting task of sorting them out , but we'll need help from the orchid society . - Thank you @jennyss and @JJ70. I adore the WA wildflowers, you've very blessed over there.
