Hi aj456 I hope you are doing okay. I am just beginning my journey with high grade DCIS and am interested to know what decision you made regarding radiation treatment. Like you, I am wary of this treatment’s potential longer term side effects down the track (particularly possible heart damage - as my left beast is affected). I understand that there are techniques used to minimise radiation to the heart but I figure it’s still a slight risk. I am considering the option of the DCISionRT test.
Sorry to hear. I found it a difficult decision, but I did go ahead in the end and went with the stats from my DCISionRT test. The test showed a meaningful drop in risk. Mine was also the left side.
