Ode to ovaries
Hello all I’m Nelly ., so I’m new here newly diagnosed and although some may think it’s a bit ‘out there’ I thought I share my latest creation. I call it ode to ovaries as I’ve just started zoladex and entreating the menopause stage at 42 I think it’s beautiful and honouring and it warms me to create this type of work.. I found all the materials on my walks and now it sits in the corner of my bedroom. I do love ritual and I guess it’s me processing positively and honouring my body and journey. I loved making this x

- Thank you @Giovanna_BCNA and @FLClover. Compared to last year when I had axilla clearance plus portecath this is a breeze. Panadol only today and up and about.

- I’m so happy it’s all done @ddon, and that you’re well and resting and not in pain 😁☺️. Very good call by the sound of things 👌🏻. At least now much less to worry about, and you can put it all begin you. You can focus on overall healing.Good luck to your daughter in her exams, and hope things ease up for you too ❤️
- @FLClover thanks for checking in. Everything went well and I spent many hours sleeping the anaesthetic off. I feel very comfortable - morphine PCA is great stuff.The surgeon dropped by and told ‘me good call’ to take the breast off. He thinks pathology will show some nasties - he said it was very lumpy although nothing too obvious. That’s scary but I spent the last couple of days feeling like I was putting my family through yet another experience they didn’t need - my eldest daughter is a week off beginning her year 12 exams and is struggling with the pressure - so I feel happier that I went ahead with it.
- How are you @ddon? Prob at the hospital feeling quite tired after it all. I hope you’re not in too much pain. Let us know how you’re travelling when you can ❤️
- @ddon I’m sure they’ll be fine. Nothing they wouldn’t be able to recover from anyway 😉. It’s time to look after you. You need it now. Focus on yourself this week and give yourself the TLC you deserve ❤️
- Thank you @Locksley and @FLClover and @NelSky for your best wishes. I feel completely calm about the surgery. It’s a totally different feeling when it’s prophylactic - it’s just a job that needs to be done now. The drains and IV’s I hate but it’s all temporary. I feel guilty for leaving my family while I am in hospital - last surgery my mother came but she is on the wrong side of the border this time so no help there. They will manage I am sure but I still worry for them. Will they remember to wash their uniforms? Pack the younger ones lunches etc. hopefully two nights and I will be home.

just dealing with the one element of early menopause at 42 and letting go of my fertility as an artist I do it this way. But whatever works for each of us is perfect 👌 - Whatever gets you through is fine with me but I confess the loss of a breast didn’t make me feel like a crone or a wise woman!
