Just wondering if anyone else on here paint with watercolours. I started painting in acrylics about 5 years ago but quickly switched to watercolours as the cleanup is much easier. Brushes just need a couple of swishes in my water jar and the paints can be left to dry out and can be reactivated with water whenever I get back to it. I’m lucky enough to have an unused bedroom as my art studio so if I’m tired or sore, I can just give the brushes a quick wash and walk out and shut the door. It doesn’t matter if I leave it for a few hours, days, weeks or months, it will still be there and ready to restart any time I want. I’ve attached some of my original works. I discovered junk journaling late last year and have fallen in love with it. I even brought some craft things to do in my downtime in Melbourne today and tomorrow. I love that a lot of it is about using things I usually would thrown into the recycling eg cereal boxes become journal covers, paper shopping bags become journaling spots and food labels turn into fancy pockets. I'll attach photos of some of the bits and pieces from my everyday life that I turn into ephemera for my journals and a few pages of a journal I've made. Hopefully the photos are in order- Ephemera I made during my hospital stay a week ago that will go in future journals. Altered playing cards with motivational sayings on them. Old firns that I died with bougainvillea petals and a lace runner to create patterns on the paper Journal with the cover made from a cheezels box Scrap papers used to make a tiny notebook A pocket made from food packaging and the brown paper that comes in deliveries. Well, I’m 5 months in to my BC journey & am going to be off for at least another 5-6 more months (2 surgeries & 2 x rounds of AC chemo down, 14 rounds of chemo left, then radiation, then hormone therapy). I kept stocking up my spotlight online cart, but then I thought with my track record of not completing much craft, I turned my idea to Lego. I bought the kit of ‘The Office’ & I think this is something I’ll actually finish! The kids are sad because I told them they could only play with it if they were in character 😂 I’ve let them build the characters & help pass me pieces, but the structure is all mine. I’ve done Michael & Pam’s work areas. I’m trying to pace myself though. We’ve got to treat ourselves right, this is a crap thing to live through. My painting for my Surgeon
Hey creative buddies, I recently made this painting for my surgeon as a thankyou gift. I named this painting cosmic connection. I will be doing a lot more in the coming days while I enjoy my chemo journey :) Hopefully one day I can start my own exhibitions and sale my paintings to raise funds for everyone going through the breast cancer journey. Hiya, I am starting a new creative project, thought it might be good place to show my efforts. With a lot of wait time coming up with appointments and treatments I was looking at a portable time fill option - so hand embroidery it is! I just wanted a small, achievable, positive to not need to think too much but focus on. Starting with straight lines (oops maybe will not do it all in 24hrs...remember the slow down being the aim 😉). Then a cross stitch, then a bigger challenge. Three simple kits to start while I learn some needlework. If I am happy with my efforts, I then have a bigger free hand in mind, using some quilting project fabric I keep not having time for.... but now do for a bit. Ode to ovaries
Hello all I’m Nelly ., so I’m new here newly diagnosed and although some may think it’s a bit ‘out there’ I thought I share my latest creation. I call it ode to ovaries as I’ve just started zoladex and entreating the menopause stage at 42 I think it’s beautiful and honouring and it warms me to create this type of work.. I found all the materials on my walks and now it sits in the corner of my bedroom. I do love ritual and I guess it’s me processing positively and honouring my body and journey. Pink Ribbon Month
I am not sure if I am doing this right but at least we can have a laugh at a novice navigating around this website. He is the embroidered dog coat I did for pink ribbon month. Good Morning All, I am wondering if anybody could tell me what type of plain material I could put embroidery designs on for a quilt/wall hanging???? I want to put embroidery designs of animals holding the pink ribbon. I want to raffle this off in October when out town hold pink ribbon week (that if it goes ahead) I have a couple of ladies that will put in together for me.
