Junk journaling!!

I discovered junk journaling late last year and have fallen in love with it. I even brought some craft things to do in my downtime in Melbourne today and tomorrow. 

I love that a lot of it is about using things I usually would thrown into the recycling eg cereal boxes become journal covers, paper shopping bags become journaling spots and food labels turn into fancy pockets. 

I'll attach photos of some of the bits and pieces from my everyday life that I turn into ephemera for my journals and a few pages of a journal I've made. 

Hopefully the photos are in order-

  1. Ephemera I made during my hospital stay a week ago that will go in future journals.
  2.  Altered playing cards with motivational sayings on them.
  3. Old firns that I died with bougainvillea petals and a lace runner to create patterns on the paper
  4. Journal with the cover made from a cheezels box
  5. Scrap papers used to make a tiny notebook
  6. A pocket made from food packaging and the brown paper that comes in deliveries.

Let me know if you have also discovered this hobby.

    Thanks for sharing. Good idea.

    I'd call it Joy Journaling myself. It's a bit like Trash and Treasure, I call mine Treasure, precious to me. Anyone call it Trash I'll thrash them -just kidding.

    Image files... I'd hope the techno., via kind Community Managers, at BCNA would fix the issue rather than us trying a workaround. If 'Attach File' is available then it should work.

    Edit: And if it's limited by file size, able techie at BCNA please state it right at that point. Thank you.

    AWESOME Sunflower67​ ... tho I can't see the pics either. 😥  They may be too big? Did you click on the 'camera' next to the Emojis below .... and choose a photo from your Computer files? 

    Hmmmm .. I just loaded  'test' one of 1.9MB & that was 'showing OK' ..... so it can't be that (or else your 1.6MB would be showing!  grrr)

    I love seeing what other members get up to re art & craft!!  We have so many creative members!!

    I hope you can get the pics up soon!

    Christina_BCNA​ hmmm okay, I am a self- confessed troglodyte so I'll see if I can figure out how to share the photos so they show up. I'm literally about to sit down and get stuck into putting together a junk journal that I'm going to send to a friend. There's a lot of great YouTube channels where people show you step by step how to make a junk journal and how to make all the various things you can add to it such as belly bands, journaling pages, cut outs etc. Lots of scrapbooks move into junk journalling from what Ive seen.

    I appreciate you logging the image thing as an issue. I can't see anything in the FAQ'S about how to upload an image but I'll have another look. I always love seeing examples of what others have made.

      Thanks Sunflower67​ , we’d love to see them! We share these creative images with our Helpline team and other staff in the office, they always bring so much joy to our mornings.

    I love this idea Sunflower67​ !! I used to do a lot of scrapbooking and making pages for loved ones filled with good times together. I also love repurposing and making use of something that would otherwise end up in landfill - I've never used food labels for paper pockets but what a great idea that is! We can't view your images unfortunately - I've logged this with the platform to look into but if you share them as an online url rather than attachments that might work :)
