Shalkalker that is heaps better. What an experience youve had. I'm sure everyone is relieved to see the improvement and it can only get better from here on out.  Thank goodness the worst is behind you, and you can look forward to better days.

@Shakalker So glad to see that it doesn't look like it did before. What a nightmare you've been through with it. It seems you've been very poorly served by your medical team and they've closed ranks to protect themselves. Even questioning whether your cultural heritage might have been responsible. Those are the types of things that should have been identified BEFORE the treatment, if they were relevant. You were allowed to fall through holes, big time. Fortunately your own determined spirit has got you through; well done! hope it improves steadily from now on. xx

To be honest, that is Even MORE amazing that you weren't admitted to hospital, @Shakalker and did it all yourself!!  

Yes - you get pretty honest answers here, from those who have gone before you!   

So now they are saying you are olive skinned & more likely to burn!  They've got it covered either way, eh??  Sounds like more porkies to me!   grrrr

Just keep on with what you are doing - it is working!  Even MORE Well done YOU!   xx  

@Zoffiel I thank you for your concerns, I truly felt like I was falling through a hole and no one where I am was able to give me the info I needed to be able to cope.

@Shakalker we are an odd mob here, but we care for others who are sailing in our sometimes leaky boat.
I think your story struck a nerve with so many because everything seemed to go so wrong and you weren't getting the help you so obviously needed. Sorry if it sounded like we were nagging you.

When I posted this original comment I was at my wits end, I had so many unusual things happen during my treatment that I thought if I posted here I would at least get some real people who had gone through what I was going through and by that I would get some good help on what to do.
I was not admitted to hospital, although my husband kept saying to the nurses that if he got burnt like this at work he would be in hospital. They just said this is a different burn and “we have done this to her” it was surreal the way it all went.
i was even told not to go to my GP because they won’t know how to deal with this type of burn. 😱
Finally we had to leave and head to Brisbane so With the help of hubby we made it through.
i am actually olive skinned and the other thing the doctor asked was if I was aboriginal, I told her I was a kiwi, then she asked if I was Maori and she went in to say that a recent study on American Indians and various indigenous peoples with olive skins showed that they were more likely to suffer like I did, and not the the really fair skinned people like Swedish and Norwegian.

We are SO thankful to see you online again, @Shakalker - and to see that the burns are finally healing.  You have done wonders on your own with the healing of your wounds & I hope it continues to progress well.

Have you always had fair skin & been affected by sunburn?  I am - I used to say I'd get sunburned on a full moon!  If so, that should have been one of the questions asked & treatment adjusted accordingly.

Yes - I think a few porkies have been told by your health team .... as anyone seeing your 'before' pics would have rightfully been horrified. 

Well done YOU, thinking outside the square & for working out the 'dressings solution' by using baby nappies! xx  A friend is doing the same with a big infection from his surgeries.
