Mums struggle
Last October 2 years ago mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. The reason for the discovery was that she felt something was wrong but her femal GP kept saying your two years aren't up yet. It was a fight for her to get a mammogram earlier that the two year period. Not happy with the ongoing refusals of her GP she went to a different GP within the same clinic who did not see the problem with referring mum to have a mammogram done. So the following day mum went and was told to wait, less than half an hr later she was diagnosed with having breast cancer. Needless to say mum was in surgery within a week. I found it to be strange she didn't receive any radiation or chemo after the mastectomy, told mum to speak to her oncologist. Nothing was done. When mum went for her pre-reconstruction scan it was discovered she now has lung cancer on the same side of her body. The GP never apologised, never came to see her nothing. She is now waiting the results of the scan, to see how quickly it's growing. And because mum is over 75 they are not so generous with chemo or radiation....it might have prevented the cancer going through the chest wall. Anyone have any experience with this kind of slackness from specialists or GP's? This all happened in Holland. I now would like to be tested for the gene but don't know if I would qualify because I live in Oz.
