Hi everyone I haven’t been here for the last 3 years as I was so devastated by my TRAM reconstruction I had on the left side in 2014 , the second time I had breast cancer. Since then I’ve been tested and I have the BRCA 2 gene that runs in my family . I’m going to have a right mastectomy and reconstruction in Brisbane this year and hopefully it’ll be good. . Can anyone recommend some plastic surgeons please ? I’ve been knocked back by 2 so far , one didn’t even see me , just said he couldn’t do anything looking at my photos and the other declined , didn’t want to step on the original Drs toes so to speak but I have NO intention of seeing him again. I expect there’s not a lot of choices for me as my stomach muscle has already been used . Thank you

@Beppie I recommend Dr Phil Richardson. https://www.brisbaneplasticsurgery.com/He specialises in breast surgery. My breast surgery was done in the public system (couldn't afford him for that), but he has done two plastic surgery jobs on me for melanomas in critical places - one on my face and one on my Achilles, with superb results.I know of others but only by reputation, not personal experience.All the best in your search. You need to be comfortable with the surgeon you choose.

I haven't had recon yet but Dr David Thiele is supposed to be very good, I've met his brother who does paeds plastics and he does nice work so hopefully runs in the family (their dad was also a plastic surgeon for what it's worth!). A lady I know through social media saw Eddie Cheng at Wesley I think and speaks highly of his work. Good luck.

@Beppie that's a shame. I've seen some photos of Megan hassall's work in Sydney from Lat Dorsi recon, maybe you could look interstate if you have insurance? Lat Dorsi is probably your best option with TRAM used and I'm guessing radiation? Hope you find answers
