Search for "Diep flap" in the search box at the top right of this page for some testimonials that I have found very informative and realistic about reconstruction.

I am doing my own homework about reconstruction and have found the comments very useful.

Check out all the costs involved and ask your health fund (if you are going private) if the surgeon is a 'No gap" provider as it can be a very expensive exercise otherwise. Also ask the surgeon if you could have the name of the anaethesist so you can obtain a written quote from him/her.

Welcome to this network and I'm sure the ladies who have had the diep reconstruction will jump in to blog. I haven't but my friend on this network has had a double diep recon last October.She is VERY pleased with the results.It was long surgery(about 12hrs)and the first few days post op were hard but without any complications. She seemed to recover quite quickly after that and was driving and back to house chores about 3 weeks later. In a few months time she will go back and have nipples put on.The new boobs look very natural and she is so happy to be able to wear lower neckline tops etc. Hope all goes well and keep in touch.
