Diep surgery recovery
hi everyone
I’m having double mastectomy and diep reconstruction in about 3 weeks and I was wondering if anyone could give some insight into recovery and how they managed once at home from hospital ? Are you able to move around the house yourself and do small things like make a sandwich ?
They have said to expect to be in hospital for 7 nights

- Very happy to say the GP peeled the micropore tape off last night to find the incisions were far less angry. The antibiotics are working. Only three little weeping infected spots left. Back again to see her on Thursday and hopefully that will be it. What a relief!
- @melclarity I'm doing my best. I'm not in tears or anything. Just frustrated and a bit down. Thanks Mel.
- @kmakm I know it feels like a setback, but remember it's not what happens to us, it's how we choose to deal with it that matters the most. It can be hard I absolutely know, but in a week you'll be back on track Im sure of it. :) x
- @melclarity The PS warned me that it might happen so I haven't panicked. It does get me down though. Thank you for the pic.
- @kmakm I just added in a pic of mine. Just know it will all be OK, it will clear up, just a hiccup ok? I thought the worst and flew into a panic as was worried I was going to lose my flap, scary! x

- @kmakm Hey Kate, @nikkid is right, I also had this, I replied on your other post in Breast Recon, sorry so many posts lol. It isnt fun, the weeping is alarming but my GP was fantastic, put steri strips on it after cleaning it and swabbing it. Mine wasnt an infection but just the healing process, the weeping stopped after about a week. So glad you got onto it, it will heal quickly so try not to panic. It is quite common big hugs xo Mine happened a few weeks after surgery. x

- About 3 weeks...,the silver dressing (here’s another pic) is a very expensive sterile strip of dressing mesh with silver - excellent for healing infections...). It’s silver (literally) on the inside and dark on the other. Your PS practice nurse should definitely have access to this :).
