Advice on plastic surgeon needed

Hi ladies,

I am going for a mastectomy soon (after my baby is born and my breast go back to normal, i.e. no production of milk) and I want to have the implant on the breast done at the same time.

I'd appreciate if you could share your experiences on your breast reconstruction and advice in regards to plastic surgeon.

I'm also interested in knowing your opinion in regards to an optional double mastectomy, for example my surgeon thinks its best to preserve my left breast but I'm afraid I may have to undergo all this again and want to avoid it.

thanks!

Pini

  • Hi ladies!

My surgeon Dr Stephanie Inder recommended her plastic surgeon, Dr Darryl Perkins as they operate together at the same hospital in the Sutherland Shire. Has anybody of you dealt with this surgeon by chance?

Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

    Cheers,

    Pini

  • Hi Pini, I went for a silicone implant, as they feel softer than saline. There are many ladies here who have saline implants, and many with silicone. I don't believe there is an issue with leakage anymore, as the silicone is not liquid like it was many years ago. I will send you a private message with my phone number if you want to chat. Good luck. Love Chris. Xx
  • Thanks Chris. I also live in Sydney, Cronulla. Can I give you a ring? I've been reading some info on breast reconstruction and there are so many options, I'm inclined for a saline implant. Is that your choice too? Cheers, Pini
  • Hi Pini, I had a double mastectomy, with insertion of tissue expanders and then implants. After my first mastectomy, I had chemo, and when that settled down, I chose to have the second one off as a precaution when I started reconstruction. Like you, I didn't want to ever have to worry about cancer in the other breast. At 53, I was alot older than you, but I have never regretted my decision to do this. I am very happy with my new boobs, and would highly recommend my plastic surgeon. Where are you? I am in Sydney, and my surgeon was Charles Cope, and he works at the Adventist hospital. He is very, very good. Love Chris xx
