What a day!

I had a huge day today...for some reason that still escapes me, l was awake at 5am (went to bed at about 11:30) so l decided to get up, don some very long forgotten lycra & walk the 4.7km around Albert Park Lake...now l normally can't be bothered to walk to the mailbox, so all this took me by surprise! I did it in just under an hour, while stopping here & there to take a photo.
Went out for breakfast with the man & had a fantastic french toast with maple syrup & bacon...ha! A reward for the long walk! Met up with a friend after that, had chats at home for a bit then went for lunch (a much healthier chicken salad!) & had a poke around the Acland St shops for the afternoon...had great coffee & then came home. Beautiful weather all day :-)
Then, l had a relaxing bath...closed my eyes and sunk into the water, came back up & realised l was surroundedby my pubes floating in the bath water! Hilarious! Couldn't stop laughing as l realised l had discovered the perfect brazillian - costs nothing, 100% pain free, & lasts for over 4 months! :-p l knew there was a perk in all this somewhere :-)
Now lm in bed typing this out before l fall asleep.
So now l have tomorrow to deal with - having my port accessed again so they can do the bloodwork before chemo no. 2 on tuesday...lm nervous, hoping there's no problems & chemo can go ahead, & lm also worried about the actual accessing as last time was horrendous. Lots of Emla & an Ativan will hopefully sort it out.
My mum is coming tomorrow from NSW (again) hoping that she & Zac don't have another big standoff as frankly, l've been feeling so damn good l don't want anything to mess it up! Just a short visit this time, 2 weeks was a bit too long.
Ok, bed time...l just needed to share after such a good day, hopefully tomorrow & tuesday is just as good :-) Night everyone!

Hi Bobbie
It's funny how the lows of this journey seem to make the highs more precious. I love how we can appreciate the good days and all the little things that go well. I guess that it helps to recharge the batteries so we can cope with the next bit.
The good thing is, the highs still happen once treatment finishes. So you get the good without so much of the contrast. I had a lovely day yesterday because I now pay attention to all the little things that give us pleasure.
Hope your Mum's visit goes well. It's hard enough getting through chemo without having to worry about the emotional reactions of everyone else. This is a time for others to put aside their own issues and realize that there are more important things to be giving your energy to. Good luck with your treatment. Take care and keep enjoying the good times. Deanne xxx0 -

Deanne you are so right. You do learn to appreciate the little things in life that make you smile. Everyday is a potentially good day and it's up to us to find those 'smile' times.
Bobbie, I have found a 'smile' time in reading your post so thank you.
Love Janey xxx
PS Bobbie, you can think of your 'bath pubes' every time you have an off day
