Hi everyone,
Just wondering has anyone gone on a plane with a portacath? I am thinking that it may trigger the metal detectors when going through security, even though I thought that it doesn't have metal bits. Maybe it does, can't remember. My husband and I are flying to Hawaii on Saturday evening for 10 days, a reward for a crappy year. Thanks to you all, yours in pink, Joane.

Aloha Joane
I only flew domestic when I had my portacath in (had it out last week) - I told security at airport and was patted down instead but I also have 2 tissue expanders in as well that contain metal.
Have a fantastic time in Hawaii am hoping to get there myself next year after next round of surgery.
Cheers

Thank you for wishing me a good time, I will as I am looking forward to going. I will be having my portacath out sometime after Feb which is when I have my first anniversary of diagnosis. If everything is good after all the scans, out it comes, ya. Joanne.0

Have flown heaps domestically and never any drama. Just walk right on through the metal detectors and no problems. Have a brilliant holiday.
