New boobies for christmas
Hi Ladies,
I know I'm slack, I havent really posted in a while but I have been keeping myself very busy since my last chemo. Its now 7 weeks post Chemo- Taxol.
On my last post I made mention of my hickman line and how much I loved it and I wouldnt change a thing but it did cause my doctors greif 1 week post chemo.
As I have BRCA2 my surgeon and I decided that we would do a double mastectomy and recon. So he sent me for a CT scan a week after my last chemo session. Low and behold I get a phone call from the hospital telling me to pack a bag and get into emergency as they accidentally found blood clots on my lungs!!
Now, I had no emergency issues right through the 6 months of chemo, so I was sooo proud of myself on my last chemo day I was happy dancing on the inside as the outside was to tired to do anything.
So Im sitting in emergency with the Dr asking "dont you have chest pain"? and me replying "no not that I can remeber" (chemo brain) and then he asked "dont you have shortness of breath?". I said "of course I do". he was quite concerned that I hadnt said anything about it but I just put it down to effects of chemo!!!!
So I ended up on a week worth of daily injections and blood tests befor going onto Warfarin.
I didnt want this to delay my surgery as I knew I would be having it befor this year was out so going back to see my surgeon had me sitting there quite frankly telling him that the Drs said it shouldnt effect anything. He seemed fine with this however it was plastic surgeon that said NO WAY was he going to do the DIEP flap recon and potentially cause my death due to blood clotting issues. I was totally 'grumpy cat' that day and walked out with a grumpy look on my face.
On my way out hubby and I past my surgeon ( who by the way is the sweetest most dashing DR i have met) who was concerned with my Grumpy cat look and asked what was wrong. I was not in the mood for talking so I said we can discuss at next weeks appointment.
So yesterday ( a week later) after waiting for 1.5 hours we were called into my surgeons room.
He said he had spent the week causing WAVES for me and he finally got a date for surgery!!
As my clots were caused by my hickman line and not my body he was able to convince the plastics team that doing the DIEP and recon needed to be done sooner rather than later.
So on the 3rd of December i go under the knife for a 12 hour operation to get hubby a new set of boobs for christmas!!
The things I do for him. hehe!!
