Is it 3 yrs or 10yrs?
There seems to be a few of us here going for our annual checkups at the moment.I had my mammogram last week and am happy to say I got the all clear on my remaining breast ,3 years on from my second bc diagnosis.I would really like to say it was 10 years on from my initial bc diagnosis cos then I'd be getting the golden handshake and turfed back out with the general population of 1 in 8 getting breast cancer.I think that's what I was told back in 2003.But as you ladies know we often get the goal posts moved on us.So I will be grateful and happy to celebrate 3 years but secretly going yay-10yrs!! Best wishes for good results to all of my pink sisters having tests/checkups this week.

Congratulations, Tonya - on your 3 years - and on your 10 years! Those wonderful words "all clear" have so much meaning for us. I can never work out when to start counting - from the surgery? Or from when the chemo finishes? Or after radiation? My GP burst my "12 month" bubble by telling me it starts from when ALL treatment stops, so I am nowhere near the 12 months I thought - not till November. Meanwhile I will just be thrilled to hear of your milestones! All the very best,Michelle x0

Mmmm that's a tricky one.I have no specific date but I was last diagnosed in April and operated on in the May(2010).So my surgeon schedules my annual mammo/ultrasound in May.I just celebrate after I rip the mammogram envelope open! Your GP is abit harsh.I think 12 months are up from diagnosis and surgery. The cancer is gone after surgery and all the other treatments are bonus extras. You call the shots Michelle and celebrate when you want!

Excellent news Tonya, lovely to hear. Hope you are doing well in yourself with no other complications cause as we know there is detours even when we are in the all clear.

I am heading for year 1. Mammo in a week's time. I am DEF counting it as a year, I need to get to the 5 years free and clear and only then will I breathe out.
Cheers and huge congrats to everyone celebrating any milestone.

Congrats to Tonya for her milestones. What was stated today at a QCC workshop is as Tonya says. Once the cancer is cut out then you are free of it so that's the date to celebrate from. All the treatments are "add ons". (I'm sure others will disagree but we can celebrate however we want to!!) XLeonie
