Changes

Knowing that we are all different but travelling similar paths, I would like to ask if anyone out there has had any similar experience to what I am having at the moment. I have just had my 2yr mammogram and am due to see oncologist in 2 weeks, but over the last 3-4 months I have noticed a change in the breast that I had the Lumpectomy in. The scar from the lumpectomy is horizontal across the top of the left breast but I seem have developed an indent vertical down across the left side of the nipple it is about 2-3cm long and actaully looks like a scar but isn't. I am not sure whether its anything to worry about or not. Has anyone else had anything similar that they can maybe give me any info on. I will be bringing it up with my oncologist when I see him in a fortnight.

Thanks :)

Robyn

  • Hi Robyn

My diagnosis was three years ago.  Yep, your breast will change shape, develop weird looking, and feeling, lumps and bumps and even darken in colour after radiotherapy.

Mine, also left lumpectomy, has a similar 'indent' as you mention. Mine is a little further up from the nipple though.

Definitely get it checked out, but in my case, my oncologist has told me that the breast, and especially the scar, will continue to shrink as it settles down after radiotherapy. So this will of course pull on everything.

I wish you all the very best with your journey...
