Hi all,

how many of US will be in Sydney? We must try to snatch some time away for a drink or two. Anyone bringing their spouses? I am.

It will be fun, and exciting, and empowering!

Got my accom advice - a "share" room at Metro Hotel Sydney Central Pitt Street.  Hope it's fairly close to where the conference is ... be terrible to get lost :)

Hi Ladies. I just let Marita know, via email, that sadly, crapily, I'm not going to be able to make Sydney. I'll be 4 weeks post-op. I think you know I found out I have brca1 mutation and was due for bilateral mastectomy with recon last Wednesday. Due to Pneumonia it has been put off untill September 26. I'm having the tissue expanders and lat dorsi. I can't explain Properly how upset I am to miss the conference and to miss seeing you girls, my gorgeous, special bcna buddies. Bcna and breast cancer brought us together and it really hurts to be unable to be there with you. Tomorrow I get back fna result from a breast lump. Ultrasound wasn't alarming but I needed to make sure when I found out That surgery was to be postponed. I'll let you know.
I want to know EVERYthing you get up to. Xxxxxxxxx

Lee I can imagine how you must be feeling .... I was worried for a while I wasn't going to be able to make it after my dramas in May and I was devastated.  Things have looked up however and I am incontrol of the apparatus and monitoring what I eat (though there are times that willpower goes to sleep and greed takes over).  My 6 months are up in October but I told the specialist surgery would have to wait till November because I was busy in Oct.  He just laughe and said that's ok !!!

The most important thing now is concentrate on yourself ... after all YOU are your number one prioity at the moment.  You'll come thru this with flying colours .... you'll have all of us in your corner ... supporting you like some demented cheer squad!!!!  The thought and vision of that is a bit scary isn't it but I know your reading this and laughing.

I've marked Sept 26 on the calender and will be sending out positive vibes your way.  Take care and try not to worry too much - I know that's easy for me to say but will be thinking of you

    Luv Shirl x0x0x

Oh, bugga!!!! So sorry to hear some of our buddies won't be there :( with us in October. We look forward to getting together soooo... much, i think it gives us a special kind of strength to know we have such special friends. We may all be spread to the far corners of the country, but the connecting thread is felt by us all. All of you girls give so much of yourselves to others, sometimes it is nice to have a special treat to look forward to, such as the BCNA events. My love and best wishes to everyone, I too will be sending Lee my support through our special connecting thread. XXX ANN

All choked up Sitting here in the kitchen 9 am, hair sticking up, dressed like Ann - ugg boots, pjs and hoodie drinking black coffee because the others drank all the milk and just contemplating life, and then I read all your posts, am crying and laughing all at once. How lucky are we - what beautiful words to read....Shirl has nailed it, although you wont be there physically Lee, know that wherever we go and what ever we do Nickys wingman (woman) will always be in our thoughts! Rest up, look after yourself so that you can be there next year !! It would be awful I have no doubt, so not trying to make light, think of that big bed - covered in chocolate wrappers and wine bottles, cuddles and laughter and the sisterhood !! Stay strong, cos we are tough 'mothers', we need you to get through this gorgeous little Lee, so we can run amok in the future. Sorry too that Moira cant be there or Megsy, but there is always next time, so keep next year in mind when making your plans... As for you Leonie, stay outa that boat for a bit, I hope its just some muscle strain, of course we didnt think it was an injury of passion - what exactly are trying to say?? Have to go - the housework is beckoning me - NOT !! Is it too early for a glass of wine ?? Love you all dearly, travel safe and enjoy today Love ros mwa mwa mwa

We leave on Sunday and not so early! I can't make it to the party event on 25th because the original party was to be on 26th so my husband organised for my Sydney family to join us for my birtdhay tea on 25th. AH well, at least I will be sober in the morning ha ha.

Great you are able to catch up with family for your birthady, well timed. I am thinking about meeting up with a friend who lives in Sydney, but I won't have much free time, so will wait and see. We do have fun at the conferences, but it is also quite demanding mentally. I usually take a few days to recover when I get home. Looking forward to all of it, see you soon, x Ann
