my journey

i was diagnosed with breast cancer 17th december 2007 it was 1st stage cancer( so i was one of the lucky ones )on the left breast, the tumour was only 1.8cm so it was small. On the 4th janurary 2008 I had my op & sentinal node taken once again lucky me the cancer hadn't spread had a reconstruction of the breast ( with all the swelling it looked good same size has my right one all looked well little bit of discomfort but no great hassell 11th feb 2008 had my tatoos, radiation treatment started 11th march 2008 30 treatments all was going well untill the 23rd treatment my skin started to burn the nipple turned black the skin was hanging off the breast. The swelling finally went down now it looks like a chook with its neck wrang but hey iam alive & well with no cancer back. My husband & granddaughter aged 15  was with me all the way through they were my rock made the long road easier for me. I feel so lucky all the way through I had brilliant people doctors, nurses everyone helped me get through with my sanity intact.

  • hi pumpkin,

And welcome to our team of ladies who are all friendly here, most of us have travelled the road, and others have been been there for their loved ones, so in all a great bunch of people, and a mine full of information.  I was diagnosed in 2008, had lumpectomy, chemo, radiotherapy and am now on Arimidex, and going great guns, i was lucky enough to go on a BCNA Community Liaison course last month, and i must say i had a ball, and am now back in my rural community making people aware there is support for them from this brilliant group of people, even when you dont live in a big town. We are currently organising a mini field of women for the area in October, so am really enjoying helping others. Feel free to add me to your contacts if you wish. meanwhile keep on visiting,  and chatting to us all.  Moira
