2 wonderful days
LIfe is good
After spending Wednesday at BCNA working on the new edition of Hope & Hurdles I came away feeling enthusiastic and looking forward to seeing the end result. Thank you to all the incredible women who attended the working party.
The revamping enhances the 1st hope and hurdles and the fantastice work done by the 1st working party. The end result will certainly continue to make a difference to women and their families who are living and dealing with mets.
Today, thursday, was the dreaded 6 month checkup with my oncologist. Brain scan shows a brain with no nasties; but no guarentees that the brain is functioning as one would expect it to - put it down to children, age, children, chemo, children, stress, children, tiredness children ( i do luv them both).
there as been no change in the size of my liver and bone mets for the past 18 months. So with that positive result I am being set free. I will continue with my nightly femara and will change from a montly infusion of zometa to a monthly Xgeva (denosumab) which is given by subcutaneous injection into the fatty tissue under the skin (heaps of that). This will certainly give my poor veins a break; now only having a monthly blood test to contend with.
My oncologist is happy with my results and believes we can stop my six month appointments with him in Melbourne. I will continue with my ongoing treatment being overseen by a local oncologist as it has in the past.
Scary? certainly, but uplifting that he has confidence that my tumors will continue behaving.
My annual CT will continue and i will certainly be back with him at the first sign of any changes.
So for today I am returning home happy and
confident that the future looks rosey and my safety net is there if/when i need it again.
Life is good.
