Chemotherapy and Invisalign

Hi, maybe an unusual question…wondering if there is anyone who was undergoing  Invisalign treatment when diagnosed and then required to do chemo? I’m about halfway through my Invisalign treatment . What did you have to do about the Invisalign? I’m assuming stop it? can you then go back to it?   My ortho is away until 13 January and I am due to start chemo just prior.

Have you been able to speak to anyone at your Chemo suite?
Are there any partners at your Orthodontic Practice.
Has anyone said that you can't continue?
I haven't had Invisalign, sorry, only have had the Chemo.
Do you think it would be an infection risk?
Good dental hygiene is important, but I'm sure you would be compliant with that.
Wishing you all the best with your treatment. I was quite lucky, and had no main issues.
I'd be interested, when you get an answer.

    Hi @Abbydog
I will call the hospital tomorrow and see if anyone can advise. Yes I was thinking that with dry mouth etc as side effects it might need to be paused. How did it affect your mouth?
The whole ortho practice is closed but I will email them as I’m pretty sure they are monitoring emails.

Hi @HannahM, if you haven't been able to speak with anyone the McGrath nurse at Alan Walker should be able to help you answer that question, or refer it to your Oncologist.

Thanks @Katie46 I’m going to call them today. They left a msg on Friday saying I am booked in for an information session appointment this Friday. They left a contact number.

    Dear HannahM,
I had no mouth issues. Some foods didn’t taste the same. Eg needed more garlic. Everyone is different. It is good to be informed re all side effects, but don’t assume you will get them all. I hope you get the answers to the Invisilign.
