Newly diagnosed triple negative, but not new to cancer

Hello

I am 56 years old and recently diagnosed with triple negative. I had breast cancer 13 years ago with a lumpectomy chemo followed by radiotherapy.

Total shock to be diagnosed again but a different cancer and same breast.

I'm having surgery and reconstruction and chemotherapy again, can't have radiotherapy in same Breast. Was discovered at my annual check up.

I guess I'm concerned and apprehensive as I've been down this road before and know what is ahead of me. But also reassured that I got through it and made a full recovery. Not happy about loosing my hair again 🥺

It's nice to hear people's stories . I didn’t really get involved in Breast cancer groups/chats last time but this time l'm doing things differently.

Cancer can be a lonely disease, despite support from family and friends.

Goodluck to everyone and your journeys. 😀

That's a real bummer, having another diagnosis after 13 years xx   Not that it makes it any easier :(

Ask away on anything that comes to mind .... and we'll do our best to answer them honestly xx

Welcome to the forum - if you keep posting your updates here & any queries you may have - then it can become a bit of a 'diary' on your treatment progression xx

If you add your 'region/town/city' to your profile, members may be able to point you to specific services in your area xx

Like you, most of us were blindsided by our Breast Cancer diagnosis    There is no rhyme nor reason as to why any of us have got it.     I hope your husband/friends are very supportive of you and great that your team is suggesting IVF egg collection, so that you can go ahead & still have children xx

Wishing you all the best for your ongoing treatment decisions - please join the Triple Negative Private Group, where you can discuss options in total privacy.  Click on this link & then click 'Join' ...

Make sure you take your husband or a trusted friend with you to all your early team meetings - both as physical and mental support, as this diagnosis mucks with your brain even more than your body xx. ANd consider recording your sessions too - as it can be difficult to remember everything that is said at the time xx

Check out this thread for lots of info on the forum, including 'off topic' threads that you may like to join in - even some funny stuff, as we all need a laugh!
