How dare you.....I'm back!
So I've picked myself up and dusted myself off from the shock of the last few weeks...boy it was a doozy to get my head around but I'm back.... ready to face the world again and give this disease WHAT FOR! I'm gonna stare this demon down and give it a whooping! ?
I started my new treatment regime last Thursday...Vinorelbine (chemo) 2 weeks on and 1 week off, Denosumab (injection for bones) 3 weekly and Herceptin 3 weekly. So far so good, but only time will tell how effective it will be. In the meantime I'm going to get on with living! :-)
Recently I wrote this poem, while reflecting on my journey so far....I imagine many of you can relate to it!
HOW DARE YOU.....
How dare you come into my life,
and cause so many tears.
How dare you come into my life,
and prey on all my fears!
How dare you come into my life,
and screw up all my dreams.
How dare you come into my life,
and show me what true sadness means!
You try to take, all that you can,
My strength and courage you test.
You f&#k with me, and my family,
but you aint seen my best!
For every shot that you can give,
I'll certainly give you more.
I won't surrender and give up for you,
on that you can be sure!! ?

All things considering I am coping reasonably well with the mastectomy - everything has happened so quickly and there has been little time to stop and think about each step of this whole process before another step presents itself. After everything you have been through, Im sure you will know only to well what that is all about.
Last night my husband , buzzed what was left of my patchy, wispy 'plucked chook look' head of hair. I must say apart from the initial shock of my baldy heady- its a suprisingly welcome relief to have it all off. Bloody cold all of a sudden though! Gotta get me some wooly beanies I think LOL
I find my best force of defence is to try and always maintain a positive attitude and these forums are a great source of comfort and positivity. Your story is an amazing one and I can only be inspired by your tenactiy and fighting spirit. Although we havent met, your warmth, strength and positiveness are just so evident. I hope you always feel the love and support your family friends and loved ones to carry you through these tough times.
I attended the last coffee morning and hope to attend a lunch in the near future, so perhaps we can one day meet.
Until then, keep up that amazing attitude and may you be showered with lots of happiness.

Lovely to hear from you! Glad you like my poem. I'd actually forgotten about it, so it was nice to read it again. I wrote it at a time when I was very, very determined and really, really pissed off! Lol! Perhaps I should share it on the ABCFG Facebook page? How are you coping afer surgery? I hope you are managing ok. I didn't have a mastectomy, but i imagine it'd be very challenging to get through. I am also having chemo at the moment. I have mine at the RAH. Where do you have yours?

Love the poem and if it's ok will print it for my lovely friend who is fighting ovarian cancer at the moment is not winning. It will put even more fight into her as she begins another treatment.

You go girl, I am so proud of the way you have not allowed this cancer to rule your life. You are a lot braver than i could ever be. Go and enjoy your life and live every moment with your daughter, what do you have to lose? Nothing! I love your new look, you really look great.
