Hello everyone,

Dragons Abreast Bendigo have purchased a new Dragon Boat and
wish to donate their existing boat to any community wishing to start up a
Dragon Boat Team for Breast Cancer survivors.

We have had many years of fun with our boat attending
regattas all over Australia.

Dragon boating has been proven worldwide by physiotherapists
to be the best healthy outdoor exercise for women who have experienced
lymphodema after breast surgery.

As well as enjoying the outdoors exercise we have lots of
fun and have made friends all over Australia.

If you would like more information please contact

Jennie Mathews on 0447 543 133 or mathewsaj502@****

I can't speak highly enough of dragonboating as a sport and the Australian Dragonboating community as a social supporter of breast cancer patients.
Has someone spoken to Dragons Abreast about this boat?

It would be nice if it was somehow an undercover sport as I am quite sun sensitive and the AI's are contributing to the sensitivity also.  I suppose I can dream :)

@Keeping_positive1, I participate in dragon boat racing, on the water at 7.30, finished by 8.30 for coffee and breakfast with the club. With a hat & sunscreen you will be safe from the sun, it is lots of fun😊

@Keeping_positive1 there is a program called Encore too for breast cancer exercise - check the YWCA site to see if it is available near you.
I'm a dragon boater too and one day a week we paddle 7am to 8am , then 6pm to 7pm - you can be completely covered up with gear so the sun protected.

Thank you Trish, I will check it out and see what alternatives there may be.  A relative was doing dragon boating and fell into the yarra river, yuck!  That was enough to put me off! Each to their own and it is a positive sport for those interested.
