Hello everyone,  today I have some exciting news to share.

BCNA has just launched The Beacon Magazine online. What does this mean? You can now read it from your favorite device anywhere, anytime.  The Beacon is our free quarterly magazine that features up-to-date information about breast cancer, events, programs and issues of importance to those diagnosed with breast cancer.  Each issue also features personal stories. Update your subscription to an online one by emailing beacon@bcna.org.au or via the subscription form on our website https://www.bcna.org.au/news-events/the-beacon-magazine/subscribe-to-the-beacon/

Friday updates:

We are running a short survey online at the moment.  The purpose is to find out what people are coming to do when they visit the BCNA website. This information will help us to continue with the improvements we make to the website.

For anyone using their tablet or ipad to view the BCNA website or use the online network, the look and feel has been improved so you now have the same experience as you would get from a desktop computer.

This week has seen 49 new blog posts being shared along with 297 comments.  Hello and welcome to our 32 new members.  It's not something I like saying but I am so happy that you have found the Online Network. We are here to support you and answer any questions you may have.  If you haven't already, you may like to join the "getting started" group. This is a group where you can ask questions and find out how to navigate around the BCNA website.

Here are some post you may have missed during the week -

Have a lovely weekend everyone x
~ Ann-Marie

just an observation. I was recently reading the results of a survey research I was involved with. The invitation came via bcna : I must admit I didn't find the focus of the research that interesting but what caught my eye was that 54% of respondents had chemotherapy leaving almost half who had surgery and radiation etc.  so almost half of this research group  didn't have chemotherapy but almost all of the personal stories in the beacon have had chemotherapy.   I know it's hard to represent everyone but would encourage bcna to consider this issue.

I clicked on 'getting started'to try and skill up on navigating around this network because I am clueless since the format changed. But apparently I have to join a group in order to get help which doesn't make sense to me- especially since I would probably need help to join a group. Couldn't 'getting started' be available for everyone?

    Hi Tonya,

Thanks so much for your feedback.  The "getting started" group is for everyone.  I wanted to try and have one place where members can go to, to ask for help and find out how to navigate the website.  However that doesn't mean that you can't just ask for help on the main blog which is happening as well, no need to join if you don't want to.

The link I added in my post should have taken you straight to the group and all you do is click "Join" and you are part of it. For all the groups on the Online Network to be part of them you just have to join. Some need approval and some don't. The "getting started" group does not need approval.

Please just ask away if you have any questions that's what I am here for. I can always give you a call and talk you through things as well.
