Blog Post
Thank you Marianne for posting the link to the first issue of the Beacon, very interesting to read the explanation of the name but I also noticed the painting by Melissa Jane Ades on the cover and it brought back a lot of memories of when I was working at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research during those years and Melissa held an exhibition of her works depicting her struggle with breast cancer to raise funds for research. Her works were beautiful, profound and deeply moving. I understand she has passed away now but hope her work can still be seen somewhere?
On a more relevant note: Thanks for the opportunity to have a say on the proposed change of name; like many others I believe the name of the newsletter needs to be inclusive of all who may be diagnosed with this disease and to reflect the important work BCNA does in supporting and advocating for the person affected by breast cancer. Refreshing the look of the magazine gives BCNA an incredible opportunity to take the lead in accurately portraying the diverse breast cancer landscape and be a point of real difference in the pink community. Cheers, Jane
