Hi everyone. This is a long post so I encourage you to go make a cuppa and settle in.

Those of you that have been here for a while know that the BCNA website and online network got a makeover in March 2015. Not everyone liked it and there were questions about why the change happened.

The old website may have looked good from the front, but behind the scenes it was becoming unstable and it had to go. Just as we have to upgrade our computers and mobile devices, we can’t go back to the old network. We can only go forward.

We know that the online network is hard to use. We listened to you. We heard you online, on the phone and in person tell us how you can’t find information and about the bugs you run into. We have been trying to fix the bugs and make the online network easier and more pleasant to use.

Further development of the current online network would be too hard, take too long, and cost too much. As a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Australians affected by breast cancer, we’re conscious about how we spend our resources.

In six weeks, the online network is moving to a new platform. We’re creating an easy-to-use, desktop, mobile and tablet friendly community designed for your unique needs.

I’m sure you have a lot of questions. What’s going to happen to my posts? What about groups? Will it be familiar? Is the way I post going to change? We will answer these and many more questions over the next few weeks. But let’s start with one: What happens now?

We have one feed and we’d like to keep that mainly about you and your questions and experiences. We don’t want this one topic to monopolise the feed. There’s a new group called Community Shift. I invite you to join, ask all your questions there, and find out more.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be showing you how the new network is shaping up. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

We value the online network and we know that software is not what makes our community great, you do. We hope you’ll support us through this transition.
