Tamoxifen and inflammation
Diagnosed April 2023 and completed treatments with partial mastectomy and reconstruction. Been struggling on Tamoxifen with inflammation in my hip and knee’s. Dec 2024 needed biopsy’s for two new lumps which were clear…thank goodness. Is this my new "normal"
I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma earlier this year. Had lumpectomy and (after weeks of deliberation) didn't need chemo. 3 weeks of ray. That all finished a couple of months ago and with a few mental breakdowns aside I carried on and came out the other side. Why is it that I now seem to feel worse on a day to day basis? The smallest things can send me into tears or anger and I don't seem to be able to control which one I feel or the intensity. I have been on Tamoxifen for approx 2 months and thankfully for everyone have been given 8 weeks grace from it from my oncologist. I haven't felt like the real me since February. Is this my new normal?
Tamoxifen and Sertraline/Zoloft
Hi there This is my first post. I was diagnosed in December 2018 with ER positive BC. Had surgery to take out two lumps in left breast and lymph nodes. Lymph nodes clear, I had radio and was put on tamoxifen. I also had my ovaries out later that year. I have not gone back to work yet and am struggling to rebuild and I note COVID and home schooling has not helped. I have been seeing psychologist who is great but recently my GP has put me on Sertraline because I had a bit of a melt down. I feel like a bit of a failure, its been over a year now since being diagnosed, I still have health anxiety but I should have my life resolved by now, should have found my way and taken the opportunity, the time to redirect my life by now, gone back to work. Other women have, they have gone back to work, found new meaning in life, seen it as a second chance etc. i am so worried about taking this antidepressant, in fact any. I am worried about it increasing my risk of getting BC again. I am worried that it will stop tamoxifen from being effective. I still haven’t taken it. Has anyone had this experience? Is anyone on antidepressants who is on tamoxifen. Does anyone take sertraline?
Periods returning after Tamoxifen
Hi lovely ladies, After 5 years of being on Tamoxifen I got the clearance to stop medication back in May19. I haven’t had a period for almost 3 years. Just recently I got my periods. Is this normal or should I see my GP/Oncologist? I didn’t have chemo only radiation after my lumpectomy back in May 2014.
Freaking out a bit
Hi, It’s been a while since I’ve been on here....mainly because I cope best by not thinking about the cancer. (Diag dec 2017...stage 2. +Hormone -Her - Lumpectomy, radiation and tamoxifen) But, over the past 6 weeks, I’ve developed tinnitus, dizziness and bad headache) I’ve been to the ENT who has referred me for a head scan which I’m having Wednesday. Now this morning, I have spotting!!!! I haven’t had any period etc since starting tamoxifen in April 2018. I’m freaking out because it’s just the start of a long week-end and I just feel generally awful Any advice/reassurances welcome.
Effexor XF can anyone help?
Hi, is had a LCIS lump removed April 2018, begun taking Tamoxifen that Aug but the past few months I’ve experienced a few episodes of anxiety which has really affected me. I went to an Oncologist check up on Friday and she said it was a common side effect of Tamoxifen. She prescribed me Effexor to help but I’m really hesitant and concerned about the long time effects of taking it. The 2 episodes of anxiety I’ve had both came down to worrying about my health and visiting the Doctors btw I’m fine health wise but this whole BC scare has really scared the shit out of me. I don’t know whether to take the advice and take it or see how I go and if it continues to pop up then rethink it. Is anyone on it and can give me any advice please? Thanks
Essential Oils
Hi I am one year post chemo/radiotherapy and now on Tamoxifen and was thinking about using essential oils more regularly. I've heard mixed reports about using certain ones and was wondering if anyone uses oils regularly without any problems with contra-indications with tamoxifen. I have been researching it but can't find anything specific to Tamoxifen. Just trying to get super healthy and getting rid of chemical based cleaners etc but don't want to fork out a lot of money for oils I shouldn't be using!
Tamoxifen and depression
Hi, after double mastectomy, removing of 11 lymph nodes and 5 operations due to infection, i went on to 4 a.c. then 10/12 paclitaxel. Lost hair toe nails, immense pain in hands and feet. Always remained very positive and happy. Have been on tamoxifen for nearly two weeks and i am so down and keep crying. Has anyone suffered depression while on Tamoxifen? Or is it my mounting financial debt thats hitting me
