The Central Coast Support Lunch was enjoyed today at the lovely Japanese Gardens. Tia Covi from the Coast CanCare Wellness Program shared information regarding the excellent range of free programs available including exercise and diet, art therapy, tai chi and self care/relaxation. Ann showed us her nipples that had just arrived in the post (silicone prosthetic ones!) and encouraging discussions were had over a lovely lunch. In tribute to Chrissy Amphlett, front singer of the Divinyls who died of breast cancer in 2013, Berlei has joined forces with J Walter Thompson creative agency to launch the Chrissy bra. To read more click here. BreaCan - BreaCan conducts free information sessions on a regular basis. The information sessions are a great way to access information and connect with others in a similar situation. Information sessions are coordinated by BreaCan staff and involve medical, allied health and other specialists, including creative therapists. Inspired Adventures - Our Inspired Adventures campaign is heating up for 2017 with Tuscany and Larapinta both full, but we have one last trip to tempt you. Iconic. Formidable. A big thank-you to everyone participating. Health and wellness tip Far out brussel sprout! You either love them or hate them. But developing a love of these green little bundles and other green vegetables from the same cruciferous/brassica family has its benefits. These little cabbage like bundles are jammed packed full of beneficial vitamins and minerals. Including the mighty sprout in your diet may help improve immune system function, reduce tiredness and fatigue, improve bone and joint health and they can have fantastic anti-inflammatory properties. You may have recently read about BCNA’s Active and Well After Breast Cancer initiative, which kicks off with an information day on Thursday 4 September at Flemington Racecourse. As this is a pilot initiative, the information day is specifically for women from the north-western suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne, however, you will be able to access all the information, tips, tricks and monthly Active and Well e-newsletter right here! The aim of Active and Well After Breast Cancer is to support and encourage women to eat well and move more. We will provide you with information, services and support through the online network to help you start making small changes that can have a positive impact on your physical and emotional wellbeing. If you are from the north-western suburbs of Melbourne, have been diagnosed with breast cancer between six months and three years ago, and would like to come along to the information day, call BCNA on 1800 500 258. Body+Soul, Australia's leading health & wellbeing supplement which runs nationally through News Limited papers every Sunday, is seeking photos of women diagnosed with breast cancer to feature as part of a commemorative cover during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. They are seeking high-res photos of women who have completed treatment, those currently going through treatment or women who have passed away. They are looking for headshots which will be used to make up a tribute cover image in the shape of a pink ribbon.
