Newly Diagnosed with further tests required
Hi. I was diagnosed a little over a week ago and I had a surgeon appointment today. She wants an MRI as my breast tissue is so dense some of the images are too vague for her to determine a clear surgery plan. But I have a potential surgery date for a few weeks time. I am thinking this is good that she is being thorough. But it does concern me as there may be more than meets the eye and she has given me that warning. Current knowledge is that I have 2 areas of concern, close to each other on same side, hormone positive, HER2 negative, provisional stage 1. One area is about 7mm, the other is ill defined and this is what she wants more images of. I feel better after meeting the surgeon, and hearing her explanation, her delivery of the plan from here and her general 'bedside manner' was the perfect amount of real. She took the time to understand what was concerning me. I am running the Sydney Marathon at the end of the month and after doing all the training and prep I would have been devastated if I couldn't run it. However we have a plan to get me there. So even though I need more scans to be certain of exactly what is going on, I am feeling as good as can be as there is some progress. In the back of my mind, is what if it is more than the fairly common and small areas I have? I can't dwell as it is what it is. I will focus on the run and deal with these things as they arise!103Views4likes4CommentsHere's to all the test's we have to have - a wee jingle I made up - cause well we have to find some
So as some of you may know I'm still going through my second round of breast cancer, and still under going all these tests that my medical have put me though, today I chose to go through my I-Med radiology app to look over how many different producers I've been booked for, and gone through, and I came up with this wee jingle I could turn this into a new version of a Christmas song : you know the one “On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me “ Well in here goes this wee tune "On my second cancer diagnosis my medical team gave to me " 4 cannula’s into the veins for all the contrast dies 3 breast ultrasounds 3 biopsy ( one double, one triple, then a single ) 3 mammograms 2 MRI’s 1 PET Scan 1 MRI guided biopsy 1 genetic test for family history And still no surgery Now tell me you just didn’t sing that tune in your head hopefully that put a smile on your dial , as we try to stay positive and support one another this October, breast cancer awareness month Happy Saturday every one hopefully my medical team will soon know when they want to do the surgery ???199Views0likes6CommentsNewly diagnosed invasive carcinoma stage 2
Hi there , new to this .... Diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in my right breast . Had a lumpectomy 3 weeks ago , 2 nodes removed and 18mm Tumor .Nodes were clear . Had satellite nodules in my margins which were not seen in any scan or during surgery, so margins were not clear , so had a second surgery last week . Tomorrow is the day I get the next lot of results . Prognosis seems good but the last 4 weeks seem to be waiting for lots of results with always more results that I wasn’t expecting . My left boob feels like it has lumps and am getting paranoid . Feels like from now on there will be suspicious lumps and can’t help but wonder if a double Mastectomy is just better for peace of mind ....surgeon says there is no need . It’s more about lowering stress levels and just wanting to make the best decision now . I guess tomorrow’s results will determine what is best depending on if I get clear margins . So many questions why not just do an MRI now even if it’s just to check the left breast ....anyone have similar thoughts , stories ??1.6KViews0likes36Comments
