Who else relies on a Breast Screening BUS, if living in regional/rural/remote areas?
I've just passed my 8 year 'surgery anniversary' (Jan 2018) ... my GP found a lump when she randomly checked my boobs just months after an 'all clear' with a BreastScreen NSW bus (that visit the area most years.) I'd been having my screening done by the bus for the previous 10+ years. My Invasive Lobular Cancer was totally missed by the rural BreastScreen Bus (who only use 2D Mammography) and if I am totally honest with myself, it is highly likely that the previous screenings had missed it too! I now only have my breast screening at a major centre and will never go back to the buses. Has anyone living in a major Town/City ever used the Mobile Bus service? Has anyone completed their treatments & GONE BACK to the mobile bus service? I'd suggest anyone living in regional/rural/remote areas to book in at a Permanent BreastScreening CLINIC next time you are 'in town' as they are more likely to have the 3D Tomographic Mammogram, rather than rely on the buses with only 2D - and advise your family & friends who also live outside of major city centres to do the same. Book it in if/when you are there on holidays/business or medical reasons. You can jump onto Google & put in 'Breast Screening Clinics xxx' (put in your state.) ... (but not all states available have 'lists' as such!) NSW does! Some are showing just Permanent clinics.62Views2likes1Comment
