Molecular Breast Imaging
Is it only me who hadn't heard about this imaging??? I came home from work and my mum told me about Molecular Breast Imaging - which can be used for ladies/men with dense breast tissue or who have implants or scar tissue and can have a higher diagnosis rate than standard imaging such as mammogram. I didn't know anything about it but had already been notified that I was no longer able to be seen by breast screen due to my mastectomy and implant. I have to say that this has made me feel a lot more confident as I now know I won't be relying solely on ultrasound for results.61Views0likes5CommentsTRAM flap
My name is Louise, in Dec 2013 a routine mammogram revealed a DCIS, fortunately very small, .6mm, which all came out in biopsy. Lumpectomy showed no further cancer which meant no radium or chemo thank God. I had my ovaries removed as prevention in Apr 2014 and then had genetic testing in October 2014 which unfortunately tested positive to BRCA2 gene. Consequently, I have opted for bilateral mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction in April 2015. My surgeon said it is a 10-12 hour operation with 7 surgeons/assistants working on me at once, which is a bit daunting. I would like to talk to any ladies who have had the same surgery, if they're happy with their decision, and any advice on what to expect or tips on assisting recovery. Thanks guys x2Views0likes2CommentsDiagnosis of Ductal carcinoma in situ
After being diagnosed with an extensive amount of Dcis in March at aged 48, after my first ever mamagramm, I've undergone a mastectomy with an expander and have just had reconstructive surgery. I will now have 6 monthly mamagramms on the natural remaining breast. I am trying to locate a support group for those in a similar situation. I would also like to campaign for an early mamagramm program. In my case the DCIS would have become invasive within 6months so I am eternally grateful to my GP. Hoping through this blog post others in a similar situation will contact me as I've been unable to locate any online group support for those diagnosed DCIS, other than a Facebook page based in USA. Please contact me if you are interested. Angela x1View0likes1CommentJen Ali
I am one week post skin sparing mastectomy and sentinal node bx and DIEP flap reconstruction for DCIS. I have lost one sister to breast cancer and mine was picked up on mammogram after my other sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. My sister decided to reject regular medical treatments and I tried very hard to change her mind. In the end she just would not talk to me. She has had two lots of treatment at the radiowave clinic in Perth and after 5 months since her initial lumpectomy her cancer has come back; same size and site, and biopsy confirmed. The radiowave clinic made her sign a non discloure agreement prior to treatment and for a so called non for profit organisation she has paid $30,000! I want people to know about this rip off place that may well have cost my sister her life!1View0likes8Comments
