Targeted clinical trial for patients with lymphoedema related to breast cancer surgery
Hi members, The below clinical trial conducted by LeapCure may be of interest to some of you. If you have breast cancer surgery related lymphoedema following a dissection or biopsy procedure, you could be eligible to join a clinical trial that is enrolling nearby. Initial eligibility includes lymphoedema patients who have had surgery for their breast cancer at least 6 months ago and diagnosed with lymphoedema within the past 4 years. The following pre-screener will help you determine your suitability, match you to a nearby trial site, and enter you on to a list for the LeapCure team to give you a call back. To help you determine if you are eligible for the study, LeapCure, who are administering the recruitment of this study in Australia, have developed a survey found at the link below. By taking this survey, you are providing your consent (agreement) for LeapCure to collect and store your survey answers on an overseas server (large computer) that is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (USA). Here is the pre-screening link: https://research.leapcure.com/studies/bclymph?locale=en-AU&utm_source=BCNA&utm_medium=mixed&utm_campaign=060921Pv22&utm_cat=PAGNWAU&utm_study=bclymph51Views1like3CommentsLetrozole and trigger finger
Trigger finger (or, in my case, trigger thumb) may be a Letrozole side effect. Seems some evidence in that regard and my trusty lymphoedema therapist (who has lots of post cancer patients) thinks it’s likely too. So far (three days!) no pain at all, just mildly annoying - I’ll try exercise, maybe a thumb splint and cortisone, in that order! I’ll be relieved if it’s nothing genetic - my mother had several trigger fingers (again no pain) and they annoyed the hell out of her! 18 months to my ten years - we’ll see!51Views0likes5CommentsNerve Pain before and after surgery
Hi everyone! Before I was diagnosed back in April, I'd been experiencing nerve pain and thickening down my left side (cancer side), mainly the arm into my hand but also down my breast, ribs and into a dull ache in my leg. A few weeks after this was when I found my lump and was then diagnosed with cancer. I had a lumpectomy in May and the nerve pain disappeared for 3 months whilst my surgery healed (I had a nasty infection that delayed the healing process) Since its been healed completely and I've been going through chemo, the same nerve issues have come back. My oncologist seems to think it may be mild lymphedema (I only had 3 nodes removed- all clear) and has referred me to see the physio next week but I'm perplexed as this also happened before my diagnosis. It doesn't bother me a huge amount but obviously any ache and pain in that area now panics me a bit although my oncologist doesn't suspect anything suspicious due to clear margins/no node involvement/tumor removed/smashing chemo. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Could it be that my original breast tumor was pinching a nerve and now the scar tissue filling that void is doing the same thing? Stay strong x131Views0likes2CommentsAnyone here having trouble with Arm Compression Sleeves
Can anyone help with suggestions to keep my arm sleeve from slipping. The grip tops seem to never be tight enough so my sleeve is always sliding down causing creases & sore spots around the elbow. My therapist has given me 4 to try in the last 4 months & nothing fits me !! Mediven Esprit standard CCL2 is the sleeve I have just purchases.121Views0likes3CommentsLymphadema and arthritis
Hi I have Lymphadema in my arm and hand after breast cancer surgery. Lately I have experienced numbness in my left hand at night as my arthritis has flared up in the hand/wrist. Can I use voltaren on that hand? I wear a sleeve on the left arm. I am due for a new sleeve soon. Joss61Views0likes2CommentsCould it be Lymphoedema
Over the past month I’ve had pain on the left rib cage near where I had a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy and radiology treatment. There doesn’t appear to be any swelling but it hurts when in inhale but not exhale. It’s probably just muscular but It really hurts when I sneeze. I’ve had a chest X-ray and all clear and they’ve checked my blood in case it was a clot141Views0likes2CommentsLymphoedema?
Hi everyone, I’m now 3 months post Radiation therapy. After your thoughts and experiences please. Have had swelling, redness under my armpit ( had full auxiliary clearance in July 2019), also elbow has been sore as well. Just to throw another thing into the pie I broke my shoulder mid September during radiation. ( Glenoid fracture). So I’m still getting aches from my shoulder which has referred pain across to my neck and chest. My question is what sort of pain have you experienced with Lymphoedema in your arm, wanting to know what is normal and what isn’t? If there is a so called normal? Trying to figure out what is from my shoulder and what is Lymphoedema. I’m having lymphatic massages every 3 weeks, doing exercises, and swimming. Keeping as active as I can. Thank you in advance. Sending hugs xx161Views0likes6CommentsNeed suggestions for instant relief from cording
Please help. Got some small cuts on my hand. Got lymphedema - wore my compression sleeve and glove and that improved. But now got cording which is the worst it has ever been - very painful, runs down to wrist. I've been trying to raise my arm above my head to stretch it. Don't have strength to keep up massaging it myself. My Lymphedema specialist is on holidays. What else can I try? I really have had enough. Need something that will work quickly. Thanks431Views0likes22CommentsLumpectomy: exercise, OT etc.. before surgery ?
I have completed neoadjuvant chemotherapy (July-Dec 2019) and I'm scheduled for a lumpectomy next week and most likely full axilla clearance. There was no advice from my doctor regarding seeing an occupational therapist or physiotherapist prior to surgery. I would like to find out what others have done prior to surgery to improve outcomes and avoid lymphedema, cording etc..121Views0likes8Comments
