Encore in Dubbo and 24 other regional NSW centres
YWCA Encore in NSW have released a time table and enrolment forms for exercise programs for Dubbo and 24 other regional NSW centres. All the 8 week programs start about 17th October and finish early December. As others have described, the programs are designed for people recovering from breast cancer. I have signed up to join the Dubbo program. Your GP/Oncologist has to sign a clearance that you are OK to take part. Phone 9285 6264 for more info and to get the enrolment forms sent to you. I enjoy walking, but I need to more - I'm looking forward to taking part!
Encore program
In October, I am attending my second Encore program. Because of the first one that I attended, I started doing aquarobics. It was at a different venue from the one that I am going to this time. The reason for my post is the waiver that I had to sign. As most would know, Encore is for anyone who has had breast cancer surgery at any time. There are speakers on various topics plus exercises and aquarobics. The waiver was incredibly insensitive: it mentioned that the venue owners would not be liable, for among other things, the death of participants. Nor would they call an ambulance! Obviously, the venue owners cannot absolve themselves of their responsibilities just by getting people to sign a piece of paper. I was really looking forward to doing this program but I will obviously have to make sure that I stay well!!!
