It’s a long time since I posted here. Herceptin has been doing a great job as scans 6 months ago came back NED! In July I had a nasty fall and needed skin graft on right knee area, 3 weeks in public hospital, then another 3 in private hospital for wound care and rehab. All good until scan 14 Feb. new spots on a rib and lower spine, and brain! That was a shock! MRI showed 7 lesions in brain which were treated promptly with stereotactic radiation therapy, only one session required. I’ll see radiation oncologist on 21 April. I’m old and tired and apart from ongoing herceptin, I don’t want any more treatments. I’ve outlived my “use by” date!! good wishes to all OpohoRe: Dealing with metastatic breast cancer diagnosis
Thank you all! No bottle to take home, all chemo administered through portacath, weekly for 6 weeks, then every 3 weeks which will be much easier. Shorter appointments from now on too. Last Wednesday had portacath inserted. Doctor and nurses were so concerned 😟 about my pain they found a bed and I was admitted to hospital, have had a week in Buderim Pte Hospital. After trial and error I’m now on fentanyl patch supplemented with regular panadol osteo. Endone was making me sick. I think the radium treatment on my back may now be helping also. I finished this a week ago. Breast nurse and hospital liaison work have resulted in urgent assessment and shower assistance tomorrow 7.30 am, no rest for the wicked!! An urgent revision of level 1 package is to happen. I was delivered to Buderim oncology by ambulance after early discharge from hospital this morning and spent 4 hours having initial chemo doses, no problems so far 👍 So things are looking up 👐🖖🏼103Views0likes0CommentsRe: Dealing with metastatic breast cancer diagnosis
Thanks girls 🤗 I have sr targin for night and endone daytime. 000 would only take me to queue up in AnE and I had a scan there recently. My husband is being a great nurse today and my comfy bed looks out onto the back garden, pretty 😍 Just needed some moral support so much appreciated 🙏🤗
