Hello Ladies, Just to let you all know that I am home and feeling pretty good. I have surprised myself and others. The surgery went well although they had to take more lymph glands than I would have liked. The surgeon didn't like the look of them so took more and I will know more in two weeks when I go and see her. I looks like I will have to have Radiation and possibly Chemo. I've done it before and got through it so I can do it again. The breast care nurse has been amazing. I came home with lots of goodies and more to come. Nothing like last time. Thank you all again for your support it has meant a lot and made the experience more bearable. I feel more relieved now that its over. I know there is more to come and I will deal with that as it comes. I have three drains in and tonight I will have to check those myself. The nursing staff at Tweed Hospital were marvelous. Hello all, I have been burying my head in the sand and trying not to think about tomorrow. I do appreciated all the help and support that you have given me so far. I have had a few bad days hear and there. The main part will be over tomorrow then it will be learning to cope with the new me. I will let you all know how I get on as soon as I can. I went on Monday for my pre op appointment. Nurse one, then Anesthetist, nurse 2 then I finally met my Breast Care Nurse. All were very nice and took the time to explain everything to me. Two weeks today till surgery. I have been able to find some front buttoning tops and Pj's. I like the idea of a packet of snakes thanks Jane for that tip. Also the Colouring books. Hi all, I just had a phone call from the Hospital and my surgery is scheduled for the 9th Nov. and I have an appointment for pre admission next Monday. I do a lot of shopping on ebay and I have managed to find a pregnancy pillow and have ordered that. Thanks Share for that information and I am so sorry to hear your news. Hi all, thanks to all of you that have posted it is really helping to find out these things. Tomorrow is 1 week since seeing the surgeon. No call from the hospital yet. At least I am having some time to get used to the idea and get over the initial shock. Thanks Ne, They only took 6 lymph nodes from my left arm and they were clear. What I am learning from you all is that now they do the sentinal node and don't take the lymph nodes. Am I right with this? How soon can you go out? I know it wont be the first couple of weeks. My surgeon said I would only be in hospital for two nights and then the nurse would come to check on me. Thanks TonyaM for your info. I have never heard of a seroma. How long did you all have to wait for the surgery? Hi Tracey62, I will be having my surgery at Tweed Hospital. I have been overwhelmed by the support from all here and on Facebook. I really appreciate it. I'm sure a lot has changed in 15 years as to treatment and well just about everything. I had my Chemo at Robina last time. Robina was just a new hospital then and all the staff were wonderful. Thanks Cath, I'm still trying to get my head around what will happen. My Surgeon said that I have to go to John Flynn Hospital to have something done before going to the Public Hospital I'm thinking that is the dye for the sentinal node.
