Hi @Lallaby I have had radiation after DMX skin sparing with implants. I had to have radiation (on my left) cause they found another tumor in my left breast and DCIS on my right. Originally I had BC IDC on the left. So far so good and this was 2 years ago. I did have the mepitel put on which saved my skin from burning. The left side is more firmer than the right side. But so far things seem to be doing ok. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@Tameeka, ok story is had 14 lymph nodes taken out 1 positive that was in Oct 2015... 4 x AC chemo finished Feb 2016. Scans all showed cleared then in 1 April 2016 proceeded with double mastectomy with BS and PS both agreeing to do a skin sparing mastectomy with immediate (tear-drop shape) implant recon as DIEP/TRAM was not an option for me (too dangerous). Then unfortunately more cancer cell found so had radiation started end May and finished end June 2016. So it's nearly a year! Yes was told about the affects could have on my implants later on (maybe in 5-10yrs time), unfortunately for me there was no choice to make, I followed Drs orders and did as I had to in regards to my treatment. Yes these things happnen, like I said only discomfort is left breast (where BC was originally) is more tight than right breast and I do get slight swelling under the armpit where lymph nodes got taken out but with messaging all seems good. Can I ask why are you having mastectomy before radiation???? Is this what your Dr has advised? Would I recommend to others? I can't do that as only Drs can tell you the right path to take in regards to your treatment. So far yes both my BS and PS are very happy with the results, haven't had nipple recon as yet PS said to wait but at the moment don't even know if I will be do that either, decision to make when time is right. @Tameeka, I had double mastectomy with immediate recon with implants and then unfortunately had to have radiation after as they found more cancer. They used the mepitel on me as well as some plaster piece ontop, so far all ok but the left side is tighter than the other side and my left side does get a little swelling due to lypmph nodes taken out.

@Pammy46 well tell them that alot of other hospitals use them and they should look into getting it. @Melsie97 I didn't purchase it the hospital provides it as I had my radiation there under Dr Suttie.

@"Sharon Leigh" the hospital provided it for me and the nurses applied and changed it when necessary... @Pammy46 I had radiation in a public hospital (St George - Kogarah NSW) I was told they have been using it for a few months with successful results.

ccasper I was delayed for nearly a month cause after my 1st AC which was around this time last year I ended up with 0 neutrophils and temperature and tonsillitis, so when it was time to go and do my 2nd AC bloods showed 0 neutrophils so off to hospital I went and got out xmas day, the next round of 2nd AC didn't happen till 6/1/16.

Hi Dak, I agree with Nadi, I too was hospitalised after my 1st chemo with 0 neutrophils.... Take the injection as you don't want to end up in hospital....

Hi there... I too don't understand how some Dr's can "dictate" not to give a double mastectomy, your body your choice, I must admit once i found out I had BC I made the decision right there and there to do a DMX and I had no issues with any of my drs. Good luck!
