Re: Season 2: Podcast Series "What You Don’t Know Until You Do, with Dr Charlotte Tottman"
She is an amazing women, doctor & speaker. I had the privilege to hear her speak at a BCNA conference & she was so inspirational. I could have listened to her all day. She is unique in that she has experienced cancer herself which makes everything she says more relatable & personal. Thoroughly recommend listening to her podcasts.71Views1like0CommentsRe: Wishing AnnieC a WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY TODAY

@frankie So sorry to read of your pain but you have some great tips from fellow members above. Like @FLClover, I used Mepitel film & didnt receive any burns, redness or irritation after my 15 Rad treatments. It was wonderful & I thoroughly recommend it. I know this wont help you but hopefully it will for others seeking advice pre-rad treatment. When I removed the film, I did use calendula cream just to soothe/hydrate my skin as I had been wrapped up like a cryovac chicken for a few weeks!! Good luck & take care xx148Views2likes0CommentsRe: Radiation, when does it begin?
@Tarma I didnt have chemo but my rad treatment was around 3-4 months after surgery as my medical team wanted me to have a BRCA gene test before they decided on the next step forward for me. Lucky it was negative so I had a 15 dose treatment & like @jennyss , mine was very easy! The reason mine was so easy & pain free was my rad onc suggested I use the Mepitel film during my treatment. This film protects your skin from the rad burns BUT you have to leave it on through the entire treatment & around 3 weeks after. I didnt have any burning/peeling/redness at all & I am truly thankful. Not everyone can use it but it would be wise to ask. Good luck with yoru treatment. Love & strength xx <37Views2likes0CommentsRe: Happy birthday wishes to @anne65

@Ella1611 That is such great news & good for you on taking control & ringing your surgeon. You must be feeling such a sense of relief & you have learnt a lot about the process this time around so it will make it a little easier for next time. Every year you will get that scanxiety but it does get a little less as you tick off each year. Go out & celebrate!! xx <387Views2likes0CommentsRe: First year check up after lumpectomy
@Ella1611 This will be a long week & we've all gone through this during our own cancer journey. I had a lumpectomy 6 years ago. Each year I worry, after having my annual MMG & thats normal but I am one of the lucky ones who get my results straight after & I have never had any problems. I never had to have an ultrasounds or biopsy either. I guess we are all different & our surgeons ensure we have the appropriate tests for our needs. Hang in there, you are half way through your week. Stressing wont change your results so just be kind to yourself & try to remain positive. Ill sure you will be fine. love & hugs xx <325Views1like0CommentsRe: A BIG Happy Birthday to @Anne65

@Jream When I was diagnosed, I chose not to tell many people at all. I come from a small country town & didnt want everyone in the street looking at me or treating me differently. To this day, its only my close family (sister & her kids) & 2 friends who know plus my boss & work colleague. My parents-in-law dont even know!! I am so glad I made the decision as I can live normally & go anywhere, without having people ask me questions or talk behind my back. Everyone is different but what I want to say, is that you dont have to tell everyone or anyone you dont want to. You can go through this with the support of a few close friends/family who you chose to tell & you will know who they are. Also, my BC Nurse offered to tell any family or friends for me as that is part of her job. She can then counsel them if required & offer support if needed. Maybe you can arrange a meeting with a BC Nurse to discuss your concerns & see if they can speak to your friends/family with you. They can also provide great reading material which may answer many questions/concerns they may have. Good luck & wishing you love & strength xx <33Views1like0Comments
