Hi ladies. Recovery time now. Surgery last week for right mastectomy. Feeling relieved it's all done and dusted. Unsure some times about my feelings but looking forward to forgetting all this surgery talk for now and getting on with being able to get back to some kind of normality. Bit tense today for that phone call a week after surgery for results but all good and no nasty surprises. Have to learn how to relax again after these last few months. WAnt the days to go quicker so I can get on top of feeling better but enjoying my walk in the sunshine for now. thankful for little things and realizing yes this whole experience does change us forever but hope the uncomfortable bits become a distant memory. Time for a great holiday when my energy levels return. I know the drill by now of taking one step at a time.????

Glad you came through the op without any hassles..so glad the results are good too, that alone is a big relief!.....take a deep breath and get on with recovery.....as for your feelings that takes time too... I was at total peace with the fact that both of my breasts were removed and once I had a good look after my surgery it sealed that...it made it a bit easier to cope with the rest..... Thanks Tracy. To be at peace sounds lovely. It's no good looking back. Just thankfully my life is now back on track. Don't have any regrets about losing my breast as long as I am healthy. recovery bring it on. Best wishes to you also. Xx

Thanks Bluewren.

I have a pre-op appointment at the hospital tomorrow, lymphoscintogram on Thurs & surgery on Fri - so the nerves are up & down.

Keep moving forward & taking one day at a time & you will get there :)

Hi Mel, thank-you for your thoughts. As the days go by and I am getting frustrated at not being able to do what I love doing thoughts creeping in again. Only bit that keeps it normal again is taking one day at a time. I still think not out of the woods yet. Why is this all happening. I wish you all the best for your coming surgery and just take one stage at a time like I did. You will be okay .the hospital part we get through okay because we rely on their expertise. advice from others on this site is really appreciative to me being a newcomer. take care and sending lots of hugs. That's great news your results came back with no nasty surprises.

I totally understand what you mean about learning to relax again - I'm still at pre surgery stage (for the second time) & that nagging feeling about not knowing what lies ahead is ever present.

Enjoy each day as it comes and enjoy noticing the little things in life. No more do we steamroll our way throughout life and not appreciate the glorious world of nature we live in.

Thanks Melinda for your kind words. Didn't know how to relax there for awhile. Things went from bad to worse. First thing I learnt was one step at a time. Yes that is a good motto because in the beginning I looked too far ahead. Hugs. Xx
