starting my 'journey'
I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and had a lumpectomy last and sentinel node biopsy last Wednesday. I'll see my surgeon for results and treatment plan this Thursday. Things are moving so quick but I think I'm handling it well so far. It's good to find you and get some support.

hi all
here i am again. i've been not well and in hospital for all last week and was discharged on the weekend. i was admitted with temperature over 38 and as was told i went to the hospital and was told i have an infection but after many many tests, xrays, scans they couldn't figure out where the infection was. i was given all sorts of antibiotics and other medications i lost count. i'm feeling great this week and have been slowly catching on things around the house. i am being extremely careful and have asked family and friends not to visit if they are or suspect to be sick. children in the family have been kept away from me (which is sad but children don't know if they are coming down with something). i am being very paranoid but after what i went through last week i think it's justified. i go for my second course tomorrow and hope that all will be ok.
please let me know if you had an experience like mine and how you got around it.
i went yesterday to the shopping centre with a mask on to have my hair shaved off as it is starting to come off in chunks. oh well sooner or later i had to do it. i've got my scarve, beanie and wig so i am set to go out if i can.
love to all
Katia

For me all my cycles were similar so I imagine you'll be OK for the wedding. Pack your anti nausea meds and an antihistamine for just in case and have fun.

Hi Katia,
So glad that your side effects are minimal so far. How did you go with rescheduling your next one?

Hi Katia,
You'll have to check with your oncologist about that. I know that mine is heavily booked so it might not be easy to change. I'm on the same Docetaxel/Cyclophosamide cocktail as you and I feel pretty good for the first two days and it only really hits me on the third day. You might be OK for your niece's wedding. Definitely talk to Onco for advice. I think white blood cells are still up at this stage too, they're lowest at around day 10. Just remember to pack anti nausea tablets and some claratyne in case. I have my last chemo on the 21st Jan, woo hoo!
Good luck,
Ingrid xx

They have delayed part of my treatment due to my partner and I had to decide on whether we were going to get embryos frozen. I have my heart ultrasound on 28th January. I am having a portacath. How are you having your chemotherapy injected? I am having 4 courses of doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide, every 3 weeks. Then paclitaxel for the following 12 weeks. I will be having treatment on a Friday but have to go in on a Thursday for bloods or something. ( I have forgotten that already). Do you have to do that? Talk to your oncologist about your dates. It is very easy to be concerned or worried about treatment. Where abouts in Sydney are you based? Trina xxxxSign in to react to this post

- kchehadeMemberThanks Ingrid I start on the 17th. Does anyone know if I can change days for my 2nd course. It's due on the Fri 3 weeks later but my niece's wedding is on the Sunday after an would like to have my treatment on the Mon this way I can participate better in the wedding. I'll ask next week but some advice is appreciated. Katia xxooSign in to react to this post
