The post surgery bra ordered by my breast care nurse for my up coming surgery seems to have been lost in the mail. Can anyone suggest where else I could buy one? I've looked everywhere locally (Big W, Best & Less etc) for a wireless front closing bra but no one stocks them. My surgery is this Fri & I'm starting to panic a little - the Berlie post surgery bra was the only one I could wear for for weeks after surgery last time. Mel

Hi Mel, like you, my bra took weeks to arrive. You can buy the Berlei surgical bras from Myer or DJs for around $50, they usually have a good supply in store. My surgeon expected me to wear the bra straight away so I bought one on the way home from hospital. The bra from the breast care nurse arrived 2 weeks later. It was really handy to have 2 bras and I wore them for months. Thinking of you on Friday, hope all goes well for you, Tracey

They also sell the berlei post surgery bra at good lingerie shops. Someone just posted recently that you can now get post surgical bras at Target. Not sure how good they are, but worth a look. Good luck with your surgery. Paula x

Hi Mel, Like Paula wrote the post surgery bras at Target are wire free and front opening $20-00 - you could always buy one while you were waiting for your berlei one to arrive in the mail. My breast care nurse also told me that I could use a wire free sports bra after being released from hospital but again you would want a front opening one until your healing was well under way. got the Amoena from Myer but it still puts pressure on my skin, especially towards the armpit and the back, areas which are both quite painful. so most of the time at home I am not wearing a bra.
another question, the armpit on the mastectomy side seems to be very dry and there is a strong odour. did anyone of you experience this?

I lived in the post op bra I came out of surgery in for the first 6 weeks as it was the most comfortable. I had short periods in the Berlei bra or bra free while it was being washed.
I hope the Berlei arrives soon - good luck in finding something comfortable in the meantime.

I couldn't wear the berlei but resorted to maternity bras...as they are padded and wire free. If unsuccessful it is worth a try.

If no luck Target sell a zip front sports bra that might be okay.

awesome, thank you so much for the information. might go to Myer tomorrow, had mastectomy a week ago and the Breast Care bra won't be arriving for a while due to Xmas. tried one of the front opening sport bras from Target but it hurts :(
