Hi @Maree72,
I had lumpectomy and axillary clearance in Aug. had drains for 3 days( the drains were so painful each time I moved, it literally killed me, that may be why I couldn’t feel any pains from my surgery).Painkillers did not help me at all.
For me, I had numbness (still do today on the lumpectomy site). I didn’t move much (even arm exercises which I was shown to do) when I had the drains as it killed me when I moved.

I started those arm exercises very slowly only + a few days after the drains were removed.
every one is different. I didn’t have any redness and my lumpectomy and axillary clearance site were not red (I couldn’t feel pain as I was on painkillers for the drains). I did have weird sensations under my arms, still do today though.
hope the above helps.
