Ongoing nausea after mastectomy

I'm about 12 days post op and have had ongoing nausea every day since my surgery. At first I assumed it was pain meds, but I haven't had anything but panadol on and off for a week now. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Hi Molly001

I didn't have any nausea after my mastectomy and after nearly two weeks it's worth getting it checked out. Acreaction to anaesthesia, the most likely cause of nausea, may not last that long. Probably a simple reason, but good to check. Best wishes.
  • Hi Molly001, I didn't have any nausea after my mastectomy that I can recall, I know I do get occasions when I have just the slightest queasy feeling but it soon rights itself without the need for medication. Hope yours settles soon. Xx
  • Molly thats so great to hear! Im petrified more of the 2 wounds i think so i hope it too isnt as bad. Yes possibly hormonal ask your Surgeon.  X
  • Thanks Melinda. I have an appt with surgeon on Thursday so I'll bring it up then if it's not gone. It's a bit like a mild morning sickness, so maybe hormonal? All the best for your surgery. Mine was no where near as bad as I was expecting xoxo
  • Molly, I havent had a Mastectomy but am having a single in 2 weeks time with Diep Flap reconstruction. I had preadmission 2 weeks ago and the Anaesthetist told me for some reason and he has no idea why, but mastectomy in his experience causes nausea in most women. So when I read your post I wondered and recalled his conversation. Are you able to contact your Breast Care Nurse or Surgeon and just double check maybe? Hugs Melinda xo
