Hi Melk,
I’m so sorry it can be hard to get a recommended surgeon in your area by someone who has actually had the surgery. I’d like to see a lot more resources available. My surgeon Su-Wen Loh was great but is Melbourne based. Ringing around hospitals is time consuming and pointless. Obviously they recommend their own people.
In the end, I actually went on line and found that Su-Wen had received pages of positive and authentic sounding reviews. Then thankfully I also found one person on this on-line community that sang his praises. It worked out for me but I’m the first to admit it’s not an efficient process.
The system is just too opaque. See what you can find online under “Best breast cancer surgeons, Mornington Peninsula, if you haven’t already. You might get a good lead and at least it’s relatively quick. Fingers crossed.

Hi MelK, while you wait for others to jump in you may want to look at the hospitals around you to see the breast surgeons that work out of them, or if you are willing to travel you may want to look at some of the larger hospitals in Melbourne.
I have added some articles below that you may also find interesting as you make your treatment decisions:
Lastly, if you haven't already, you may want to join the Choosing breast reconstruction online group, as there may already be discussions in your area.
