Hot flushes and other stuff:)

Hello ladies! Just a quick update on where I am in my 'journey'. I had some light spotting a couple of months ago,and because I am post menopausal, and on Tamoxifen,I had a biopsy. They didn't get enough tissue,so now I am having to have a hysteroscopy and D & C, just to make sure everything is ok. I am pretty sure it will be, but this will be a good way of telling how things are going, so if there are changes in the future, they will know by how much. My other thing, that is driving me nuts, are my hot flushes. They seem to be getting worse,so I decided to keep a record of when I get them, and see if there is a pattern.Would you believe, they start about an hour after I get up in the morning. They happen about every hour, all day, with about a 3 hour break in the afternoon, between 1 and 4. Then they wake me about 3 times each night.I am going to start taking my Tamoxifen in the morning, and see if it makes any difference.I know there are medications that you can take, but I really don't want to go down that path if I don't have to. Anyway, that is my update and my whinge!! I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be. Cheers xox Robyn
  • Hi Robyn,

I also take mine in the morning but have flushes all night- so I think no avoiding them, sadly!

  • Mine went on for a week perhaps, then stopped.Yesterday at my appointment,I was telling the doctor how I haven't had any more, and he said,oh that's good.I got home, and believe it or not,it's started again.Just nuisance value really, but it will be good to find out that it is only the Tamoxifen and nothing else. You are right Hazel, definitely not on the same page as chemo, but it's really important that we follow up on this stuff.Hope you're doing well .Cheers Robyn xox
  • I am sure the Tamoxifen would be working.Hot flushes are not a measure of its effectiveness. If they were,I would never have to worry again!!!Cheers Robyn xox
  • Lol,cardigan off, cardigan on! All day long I do this, and some days it's a source of great amusement in our house, and other days it's just really annoying! Take care Donna.xoxRobyn
  • I take my Tamoxifin in the mornings and I have come to think that it doesn';t matter when you take these things. I wake through the night though I have a fan on me all night long, my poor huisband is sleeping with a beanie on these days.

I wear layers and am constantly removing them and then putting them back on. At my desk at work I have a small hand fan and use that when needed,

I had my ovaries and tubes removed in Novmeber becuase they felt I was at ricsk of ovarian cancer however they left my uterus, so my fingers are crossed that I don't get bleeding because the oncologist has told me that will not be good news as I have no ovaries it means its bad straight up.To be honest I am so over surgeries, in the last 12 months I have had 3 and I really don't want anymore.

    Take care

    Donna

  • Good luck with your results too. There is always something isn't there, although I am very grateful for how I am going,as I am so mindful of ladies that are struggling with much more serious issues.Cheers xoxRobyn
  • Snap Robyn, I've just had biopsy too, though I am on Femara. I too have fingers crossed for good results. I will call for results of the biopsy next week, & take it from there. Good luck with the hysteroscopy & D&C.
