Had The Op, Now For The Results ...

Hi Ladies, I have had my part mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy on the 15.11. I am now home and resting very well. I am feeling very good and just keeping my mjnd active by scrolling through this site and a few others. My op went well I lost on about half of my breast, she is nice and perky now. I have a great surgeon and his work is wonderful. I am now playing the waiting game for the results to know where to from here. I have a very large support group of family and friends and they have made this all easy so far. My breast care nurse said this is the part where humans are working their magic on figuring out how my cancer works, so to give them the time to do so ,and then we will go from there. Her ringing me and checking on me has been a wonderful thing, she is so full of information, so I can calmly go on for the next two weeks not expecting any results and just healing and enjoying my family. I do read alot of stories and comments on here, and I am learning so much from everyone, Thankyou All this really is a great place to be. My best wishes to Everyone. ~D~
  • Thankyou Brenda, Yes Us Females Can Make Pretty Much Anything Work For Us :)
  • Glad you are home and doing ok. Hopefully pathology will come back quickly and put your mind at ease with clear margins reports. I used to hang the bag on the taps while I had a shower. We are quick to adapt.
  • Thankyou Cath, Definitely great weather to be home. I will keep updated. Hope you are also well. ~D~
  • Hi Donna,
Fantastic on being home and recuperating and aren't we having sensational weather to be recuperating in. Wonderful to know that your results are being prepared and you can rest, relax and gather strength. Best wishes for the results. Let us know how you get on. Xx Cath

  • Thankyou Melclarity, Sending All my positive thoughts your way too. Hope everything goes easily xx
  • Hi Shaylls, How are you feeling, I'm pretty good just resting alot as prescribed. How are you handling the drain, I have worked out by hanging it on a lanyard makes walking and showering so much easier, and I put my pink breast cancer bag over the drain part 'Cause my family don't need to be seeing that .. Have you lost a bit of feeling under your arm or back ? I have it's weird ... Best Wishes ~D~
  • Glad to hear your home and recovering. My surgery was Monday so playing the waiting game like you now. Similar path so far. Hope your feeling ok xxx
  • @DMaree glad to hear you got through it all and are now home resting and recuperating. Last July, I had a recurrence worst luck in the same breast from 4yrs earlier. I also had another major lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. I remember finding out before I left hospital whether it was contained in the breast and not in the lymph nodes which I was elated about. My breast is considerably smaller now than the right and after 4.5 months of Chemo that ended last December am now facing a Mastectomy next year. I certainly dont regret the 2 lumpectomies I had done as my Surgeon said I had nothing to gain from a Mastectomy, its only because of  a recurrence that they suggest it. I had IDC 3rd stage aggressive Breast Cancer. The waiting is tough absolutely, but you will get all your results entirely and that is what you want and need together with recommendations of a treatment plan as its all very different for everyone.

Glad youre in great spirits! rest and get well. Hugs Melinda xo
