Great News

It's day three after my bilateral mastectomy and I just saw my surgeon. I have NO CANCER in the removed tissue! This is wonderful news.

I was told to expect three day blues today but I've been feeling great. Tired and a bit spaced out on drugs, but great.

Now I'm having a well deserved cry.

  • Thanks Julie,

I used to feel the way you do until I read "The Happiness Trap" by Russ Harris. I highly recommend it, particularly to anyone with or recovering from breast cancer. It turns out that trying to be happy when we need to feel sad is actually not very good for us at all. I am now at peace with the full range of my emotions. Sometimes I feel happy and I enjoy it. Sometimes I feel sad and I make room for it. I feel as if learning this has set me free.

  • I am so happy for you.  It is also important to laugh as it increases serotonin which is the feel good hormone.

The other night, I sat down to watch Mrs Doubtfire (Robin Williams) and I

could not stop laughing. I suggest that to anyone who wants to feel good.

Going through cancer is very challenging as no one understands how we feel.

We have to rise up in our spirit and not let this defeat us.

    Have a great day.
