My flashbacks to surgery day is the anaethetist and the ward sister arguing over my body on the "slab" in pre op over why I did not get the 2 nebulisers and prednisone, for my asthma, that was written up to be administered in the hour and a half prior to surgery.
I really wanted to get off that "slab" when the surgeon said to "hurry up, I have a long list".
Confidence inspiring - not.
Professional behaviour - definitely not.
Lesson learnt from that - speak up, ask what premeds are to be given. Never just lay there in silence. Be a nuisance.
