Double Mastecomy advise

I had a double mastecomy 9 weeks ago and I am pretty concerned and need your advice please ladies.

I have had my right side drained 8 times, due to a seroma, and my left side has been drained 5 times.  My concern is the left side is becoming very painful and is quite hard.  I have seen the breast care nurse about this, and she says that I need to see the surgeon!!!!  It is quite painful and looks horrible.

Anyone out there that has had this problem, I would really love to hear from you, as I am becoming quite anxious.

    Thanks Chris! I'm so scared' I'm really over getting poked and jabbed!!! I haven't noticed any discoloration, just swelling and hard build up. I will be seeing her on Monday, so I will see what she says. Blessings to you xoxox

    Hi Tanyar, I had a large haematoma (blood clot) form 3 weeks after my mastectomy and insertion of tissue expanders. This happened spontaneously, and didn't hurt, but the whole area became distorted and hard very quickly. Eventually as the bluish colour of the clot became obvious. This required surgery to removed the expander and wash out the clot. 800mls was drained out. If the area has gone hard, and painful, I would suggest taking the advise of the breast care nurse and seeing your surgeon. It might be a build up of fluid or old blood, which in itself can be very uncomfortable, but it might also be an infection which could be painful and may require antibiotics. Certainly your surgeon or even a GP should be having a look at it, so as to put your mind at rest. Good luck. Love Chris xx
