Hi Kelly
Your situation sounds a lot like mine. Last year I had bilateral mastectomies for having high-grade, multi-focal DCIS in my left breast. I was diagnosed on a Wednesday and had my surgery less than two weeks later due to the aggressive nature of my cancer. I opted for immediate reconstruction with expanders which have since been switched to silicone and I've have nipple reconstruction as well. I had a sentinal lymph node removed to ensure there was no spread - thankfully that came back clear.
It's a hard road and, more so, when it's such a shock. You are in good hands communicating with the seasoned ladies on this website. We have all been through something difficult and it's really good to have a place to come and vent your feelings.
I wish you all the very best of luck with your surgery and the post-surgical options you choose. Remember that it's your body so it's your choice, so don't be afraid to seek second opinions if you're not happy with anything your doctor tells you.
Sending hugs,
Xxx Jeanine
