DCIS and Mastectomy

Hi Kelly Your situation sounds a lot like mine. Last year I had bilateral mastectomies for having high-grade, multi-focal DCIS in my left breast. I was diagnosed on a Wednesday and had my surgery less than two weeks later due to the aggressive nature of my cancer. I opted for immediate reconstruction with expanders which have since been switched to silicone and I've have nipple reconstruction as well. I had a sentinal lymph node removed to ensure there was no spread - thankfully that came back clear. It's a hard road and, more so, when it's such a shock. You are in good hands communicating with the seasoned ladies on this website. We have all been through something difficult and it's really good to have a place to come and vent your feelings.
